RateRoute

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 June 2026

The short version

RateRoute does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email, or any personal details, and does not collect or store the amounts or currencies you compare on any server we control. Anything you save in the app — rate alerts, favourite routes — stays only on your own device. We show ads through Google AdMob, which collects some data of its own for that purpose; that's covered below.

What we don't collect

What's stored on your device

Rate alerts and saved routes you create are stored locally on your device only (using your browser's or app's local storage), so we never see them and they're never sent anywhere. Deleting the app, or clearing site data in your browser, removes them completely.

Anonymous, aggregate usage data

If enabled, the app may report a single anonymous number after a comparison — the relative percentage difference between the best and worst quote shown (e.g. "2.3% better"), together with the currency pair. This is never an amount of money, never linked to a device or person, and is combined into a single running average used to show a genuine "people typically save X%" statistic. There is no way to reconstruct what any individual person sent from this data.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

RateRoute is free to use and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers, approximate location, and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads, and may use this data for personalised advertising where you've given consent. On first use in the UK/EU, you'll be shown a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) where you can choose what to allow. You can review or change ad personalisation at any time in your device's ad settings. See Google's own policy for full detail: policies.google.com/privacy, and AdMob specifically: How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

Live rate data

To show you comparison rates, the app fetches live data from third-party rate and comparison APIs (such as the Wise Comparison API and public exchange-rate feeds). These requests include only the currencies and amount you're comparing — never anything that identifies you personally.

Third-party links

Provider cards link out to third-party money-transfer providers (Wise, Remitly, Western Union, and others). Once you leave RateRoute and land on a provider's own site or app, their privacy policy applies, not ours. We don't control and aren't responsible for how they handle your data.

Children

RateRoute is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
